Very Small but Powerful Electric SUV

Baojun, a subsidiary of the SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture, has just released teaser images of what is being called by automotive experts "a mystery car" that is an awesome, tiny, electric off-road SUV.  The EV has rugged, off-road styling, along with a very small footprint, boxy-rectangular contours with rounded edges and traditional off-road proportions.  The vehicle is a bit of a mystery.  At this point, it has no name and no logo.  But it is a concept car that appears to be production ready.  And, it is not being taken lightly because part of the brainpower behind it is coming from no less than GM and top Chinese automakers SAIC and Wuling.

Styling Features

The electric SUV has a prominent grille panel with quad LED lights on either side and LED taillights.  The doors occupy the largest portion of the body profile which reflects the shortness of the wheelbase. It is smaller in size than a Suzuki Jimny. There are unpainted off-road bumpers, an integrated roof rack and a very rugged design for the tailgate.

Tech Specs

This tiny EV appears to be mighty. It is likely to have dual-electric motors, all-wheel drive and a combined output of 108 hp (80 kW/109PS) which is double the power of Baojun's new, single motor KiWi.  The battery is expected to be a large one with a capacity of 31.9 kWs and a range of 186 miles on a charge.  The car will debut as a concept car in November 2022 at the Guangzhou Auto Show and it will go on sale in Q1 2023 first in China.  Some automotive experts are hailing it as an awesome new travel vehicle.  For more news stories like this, Daily Vehicle Briefing
