Lincoln's 1st All-Electric Vehicle

  Tease from   Lincoln: Image of 1st E-SUV                                                       Source: Lincoln Built With Rivian Electric Technology Lincoln has released a teaser image of its first, all-electric concept vehicle that will officially be unveiled April 20, 2022, possibly at the New York Auto Show.  The company says that the battery electric vehicle (BEV) will set the direction for its future lineup of electric vehicles.  Lincoln is Ford's luxury car division.  Interestingly, some of new EV startup Rivian's electric technology will be at the base of the vehicle.  Ford has a 12% stake in Rivian. Rivian Base The new EV concept, which has yet to be named, appears to be rather large and a crossover, which would provide the vehicle with more aerodynamics and longer range.  Rivian's electric vehicle base, which is known as an electric skateboard, will form the EV's base.   EV Rivian To IPO On Nasdaq                                                  Source:  Rivian Multi Billion IPO on Nasdaq Irvine, California based electric vehicle maker Rivian is considered by many to be the leader of EV startups.  The company is expected to go public this week.  It is looking for a valuation of $65 billion which would put in the major leagues alongside of Ford, which is valued at $77 billion, and GM, which is valued at $85 billion.  Many stock market analysts and automotive experts are asking is Rivian the next Tesla?  It certainly does have big backers. Amazon With a 20% Stake The company is backed by Ford and Amazon, which has a 20% stake. Rivian plans to list on the Nasdaq with the symbol "RIVN".  Despite the fact that it is a startup, the company has a revenue stream.   US Startup Beats Tesla, GM, Ford and more                                        Source:  Rivian Tough Pickup That Wades Through Water & Climbs Hills of Sand EV startup Rivian is the first automaker to produce, launch and market an electric pickup truck.  The US electric truck maker beat out the world's #1 electric vehicle maker Tesla, along with GM, Ford and others.  The company's first R1T pickup truck for a customer drove off the assembly line at the Rivian plant in Normal, Illinois.  More are rolling off the production line and the company says they are saleable to customers.  In fact, they are "ready for sale in all 50 states".  The R1T has a range of 317 miles on a charge and prices start at $67,500.  As you can see in the photos, the e-pickup is so tough it can climb hills of sand and wade through water as high as the top of the tires.  With a deposit of $1,000, the truck can be reserved for purchase.   Ford's Long Anticipated Electric Pick-Up to Debut Source:  Ford A Truck That Can Power Your Home During a Power Outage The long anticipated Ford F-150 electric pickup truck got a name today - F-150 Lightning.  Ford says it will unveil the EV on May 19th and released a teaser image of the Lightning insignia.  The company provided little details on the capabilities and the design of Lightning.  But Ford CEO Jim Farley released a statement saying the F-150 is now going digital and fully electric.  He added several fascinating details.  He said Lightning can power your house during a power outage.  The EV is faster than the original F-150 Lightning Performance truck and it will constantly improve through over the air updates. Production on the vehicle will start in spring 2022.   Customers Order Fully Electric Pickup and SUV in Droves                                                  Source:  Rivian Michigan Based EV Startup Rivian Before Michigan startup Rivian offered the first edition of its electric pickup truck to the public, it sold out of all of its order reservation spots.  The bidding for the first editions of the R1T e-pickup truck and R1S e-SUV were offered first to people who had put down a $1,000 deposit in the past two years.  The vehicles sold out within a week.  Rivian calls it their Launch Edition.  The R1T will be delivered to customers in June 2021.  The R1S SUV will be delivered in August 2021. E-Vehicle Models Accelerating Choice

Lincoln's 2022 Electric SUV Source:  Rivian.  Top - e-platform.  Bottom - Rivian  R1S SUV Startup Rivian  Forging the Way with Unique E-Vehicle Platform Reports indicate that Lincoln will be a big beneficiary of Ford's $500 million investment in Detroit e-vehicle startup Rivian.  Amazon is also investing in the company.  Lincoln is expected to use Rivian's skateboard-styled platform for a Lincoln electric SUV coming out in 2022.  This would be the first example of Ford's plans to co-develop a vehicle based on Rivian's electric car platform.
