UK Testing Drones to Deliver Medical Supplies Source:  UK's NHS Medical Test Drone Testing Fast Tracked for This Week The use of new technologies in the coronavirus health crisis is proving to be increasingly important. The United Kingdom is starting test trials this week on using drones to deliver much needed medical supplies during the pandemic. The drone delivery service project is being spearheaded by the UK's Transport Ministry. They're fast tracking the effort.  The first deliveries are going to a hospital on the Isle of Wight.  The Ministry also hopes to use drones to deliver other vital supplies. British Robots Delivering Groceries Meanwhile, a fleet of robots on wheels are delivering groceries and other vital shopping items during the UK's coronavirus lockdown.  For example, the UK  robot company Starship is providing  free robot deliveries of groceries to all NHS health workers in the t

European Space Agency Asteroid Find Source: NASA-ESA Asteroid Image Space Rock in Earth-Crossing Orbit The European Space Agency (ESA) has discovered a huge asteroid moving at warp speed.  32,000 miles per hour to be exact. The asteroid is a big one with a diameter of 262 feet.  That's about  the size of a commercial aircraft wing tip to wing tip.  ESA has named the space rock 2020 Ft3 and they've added it to their Risk List of asteroids that could hit Earth. 2089 - 2110 Timeframe 2020 Ft3 follows an Earth-crossing orbit, making it a member of the Apollo family of asteroids.  The space rock is world's away from Earth.  ESA believes the chances of it striking the Earth are very  small.  And, they and NASA have calculated, if by some slight chance it were to hit, it would  not happen before 2089.  They  add, the remote possibility of a strike would be

ESA SAT To Explore Jupiter & Its Moons Source:  ESA JUICE'S Search for Signs of Alien Life The European Space Agency (ESA) is putting the final touches on a new spacecraft specifically designed to search for alien life.  The first place that it will search for extraterrestrial life is Jupiter and its Moons . The spacecraft is called JUICE or Jupiter  Icy Moons Explorer.  JUICE's purpose is to find alien life or determine if the planet and its Moons are capable of sustaining life. This is yet another example of how seriously global space agencies, are taking the search for life beyond Earth. NASA with its upcoming Mars probe is leading the exploration along with ESA. JUICE's Timeline Right now in Germany, JUICE is being outfitted with highly advanced communications systems, navigation sensors and onboard computers. Next stop is The Netherlands, where it will go through rigorous testing. JUICE's lau

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered Vehicles

Daimler and Volvo's New Fuel Cell Joint Venture Source:  Daimler Toyota's Hydrogen Powered Smart City Volvo and Mercedes' parent company Daimler have announced a joint venture to develop and make hydrogen fuel cell systems for big, heavy duty trucks - the biggest polluters on global highways. Daimler's truck division is spearheading the effort.  Volvo is pouring in $652 million for a 50% stake in the venture.  This new JV is an important look at the future of greener highways. Hydrogen's Advantages Electric vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells have significant advantages.  They provide much longer range, quick refueling times and emit water, not noxious carbon dioxide pollution.  In Japan, both Toyota and Honda are selling fuel cell Electric Vehicles.  In fact, Toyota, in particular, is betting the future will be driven by hydrogen fuel cells.  At the base of Mount Fuji, Toyota is building a sm

Starlink Internet Satellites Launched into Orbit Super:  SpaceX Falcon 9 Launch Promise of Cheap, High Speed Internet Connectivity Most of the world is at a standstill from the pandemic. But, SpaceX appears to be operating business as usual as it launched another batch of  Starlink internet satellites into space. 60 broadband satellites were lifted into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center yesterday. The launch was on schedule and flawless. The satellites are climbing into a low Earth orbit of 340 miles above the ground. This brings the total number of Starlink satellites now in orbit to 400. Multi-Billion Dollar Communications Business SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has a vision. He wants to place 40,000 Starlink satellites in space in order to provide the entire globe with cheap, high speed internet connectivity.  His vision has the potential of generating billions of dollars in revenue.  Wit
