  New Mercedes Designed to Give Tesla Big Competition                                                  Source:  Mercedes Green, Zero Emissions Mercedes Mercedes has unveiled its 2024 Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV. This is an all-electric crossover powerhouse of a vehicle that is designed to compete directly with Tesla.  The EV has a smaller footprint than the EQS SUV and it promises to be sleek, powerful and very agile, particularly when equipped with rear-axle steering.  The electric SUV is an important part of Mercedes' EQ lineup which includes the new EQS and EQE sedans. Mercedes Technologies on Display The EQE SUV's deliver 617 hp or 677 hp from a Boost function in the AMG Dynamic Plus Package.  It can do 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds.  The powertrains include rear wheel drive and dual motor, 4Matic all-wheel drive with different outputs.  It also has advanced generative braking.  It packs a very respectable range of 367 miles on a charge.  The vehicle offers a lower ride height for Sp

The electric, zero-emissions semi-trucks are one of CEO Elon Musk's favorite projects because of their positive impact on the environment. But they've been a long time coming because of supply shortages and production delays.  Pepsi will be the first buyer of the zero-emissions semi to take delivery.  They will start going into operation at Pepsi's California Frito-Lay and beverage plants and then be fanned out to other locations. German Automotive Designer's Take on Next-G Roadster with Rockets                                         Source:  Maximilian Schneider This Roadster is Cool in Every Way Tesla CEO Elon Musk first unveiled his 2nd-generation Roadster concept in 2017.  He was supposed to launch it in 2020 and then punted the launch date back to 2023.  Rather than wait any longer, a very talented German automotive designer, Maximilian Schneider who has worked for Audi, Mercedes and VW, created his highly original and innovative design of what the potential is for the next G Roadster. Schneider took Elon Musk's concept to put rocket boosters on the car and Schneider made them aa main feature.  It's called the Tesla SpaceX Model R.  It's a hypercar that has tremendous technologies in it and is quite a beauty. Given CEO Elon Musk's comments, it is very likely.  Recently, Musk promised to equip his much-anticipated new Roadster sportscar with rocket engines to take-off and briefly fly. Now, we've learned that one of the world's hottest eVTOLs (electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles) - Jetson 1 - is powered by Tesla electric car battery cells. Swedish startup Jetson One is the inventor and developer of Jetson 1. This flying car can be ordered, doesn't require a pilot's or driver's license and has zero emissions.   Tesla Electric Van For People & Cargo                                             Source:  Teslarati A Van With Solar Canopies In a series of ongoing Tweets, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is doing a big tease about a new futuristic vehicle to join the Tesla electric lineup.  Apparently, he is interested in creating an electric van, which Tesla currently does not offer, to transport people and cargo.  What he specifically has in mind is a "Robovan for people and cargo." If it's robo, that would make it an autonomous, self-driving, electric vehicle.  When Musk tweets, his more than 100 million followers listen.  He also has a $44 billion offer on the table to buy Twitter, which tonight Musk says could be in danger because of what he and his team consider a lack of transparent information on fake accounts on Twitter. Experts say Musk may find it legally difficult to back out of the Twitter buyout deal.   UPDATE :  he just backed out of the Twitter deal at 7/8/22 at 6:30PM EST).

  EV That's Being Called a "Knockout"                                                    Source:  Hyundai What Looks Like Hyundai's Newest Electric Winner Hyundai is on a roll right now.   Thanks to the Ioniq 5 SUV EV and the Kia EV 6 crossover (Hyundai owns Kia), Hyundai is now the 2nd biggest seller of EVs in the US.  Now, the South Korea based automotive giant  has just unveiled its new EV Ioniq 6 to rave reviews. One automotive expert called the upcoming 2024 Ioniq a "knockout".  The EV sedan debuts after Hyundai's wildly successful Ioniq 5, which is one of the brand's top new EVs.  The Ioniq 6 has very smooth lines and is sculptured for aerodynamic driving.  The design is being called the perfect combination of future and retro.  The curvaceous roof, shoulder and window lines taper into the vehicle's tail. It is reminiscent of the aerodynamic automotive styling of the 1920's and 1930's but with smooth, futuristic lines and details.

  CA-Based Startup is Hitting Stride                                                  Source:  Lucid e-Sedans New Buyer for 100,000 EVs & New Production Facility Luxury electric sedan maker Lucid Motors of California does not have the branded household name that Tesla does.  But technologically in some ways Lucid Air sedans out-class and out-perform Tesla models and other EVs, according to automotive experts. Very recently, Lucid Motors has made several moves on the chessboard against its archrival Tesla.  The California-based startup has just secured an order for 100,000 Lucid EVs from the government of Saudi Arabia over the next ten years.  The price for the Lucid Air starts at $77,400 with some models kicking in at $95,000, $139,000 and $179,000.  The final price-tag of this deal has not been disclosed yet, but it is going to be a huge payday for the California startup.  The Lucid Air is the #1 luxury electric vehicle of 2022, according to Cars.com.  Lucid is also expanding prod
