Rivian R1T E-Pickup Beats Competitors on Delivery

  US Startup 1st to Produce E-Pickups for Customers - Beats Tesla, GM, Ford and more                                        Source:  Rivian R1T Tough Pickup That Wades Through Water & Climbs Hills of Sand EV startup Rivian is the first automaker to produce, launch and market an electric pickup truck.  The US electric truck maker beat out the world's #1 electric vehicle maker Tesla, along with GM, Ford and others.  The company's first R1T pickup truck for a customer drove off the assembly line at the Rivian plant in Normal, Illinois.  More are rolling off the production line and the company says they are saleable to customers.  In fact, they are "ready for sale in all 50 states".  The R1T has a range of 317 miles on a charge and prices start at $67,500.  As you can see in the photos, the e-pickup is so tough it can climb hills of sand and wade through water as high as the top of the tires.  With a deposit of $1,000, the truck can be reserved for purchase. As it develops its hydrogen technology system across its portfolio, it has just unveiled a 670 horsepower fuel cell plug-in hybrid sports car - the Vision FK concept. This vehicle combines plug-in electric vehicle power with hydrogen fuel cell technology.  A full recharge takes only 5 minutes.  The photos of this exciting concept are camouflaged but it looks sleek and very fast with intake openings to increase speed where the rear doors should be. It is a very promising, zero emissions work in progress. China's Highly Competitive Flying Car

XPeng's Voyager X2  Flying in Extreme Environments and at High Altitudes                                           Source: XPeng Voyager X2 All-Electric, New Way to Travel XPeng Huitan, a subsidiary of XPeng Motors, recently unveiled its 5th generation flying car at the Chengdu Motor Show in China.  Now, the automaker has revealed that the X2 is undergoing test flights in extreme weather conditions  and at high altitudes above cities in China.  The EV is actually an eVTOL, an electric vertical take off and landing vehicle.  XPeng Huitan calls it a "flying car" because it sports a lot of the design contained in the company's P7 EV sedan. Current Capabilities The X2 can operate on a full charge for 35 minutes and flies to a maximum altitude of 3,280 feet.  Top speed is 81 mph.  The current model can carry two people, has a closed cockpit and the fuselage is made of carbon fiber.  It weighs 870 pounds with the battery and can carry a maximum load of 440 pounds. Motorsports In their social media post, Porsche mentioned motorsports with regard to the new concept.  They said motorsports provides the "toughest grounds for engineering innovations on their way to series production".  Experts are speculating that this could be a new vehicle inspired by motorsports or an experimental racecar with a fully electric power

Corvette Is Developing its 1st Hybrid

  Powerful Vehicle But With Less Emissions Source:  GM & Corvette E-Ray Expected to Debut in 2023 GM's iconic sports car, the Corvette, is about to roll out its first, electrified model.  GM is working on a plug-in hybrid version of the C8 Vette called the E-Ray.  The next-G Vette has a radical design shift with a mid-engine layout.  Automotive reports indicate the hybrid powertrain will generate a powerful punch of 650 horsepower.  The EV is expected to debut in 2023. Tech Specs & More Firsts The new Vette pairs a 6.2 liter LT2 V-8 engine with an e-booster electric motor on the front axle.  The e-Ray won't produce any emissions until it is travelling over 35 mph.  For the first time in Corvette's history, the vehicle will have four-wheel drive.  Automotive experts say that the ability to send power to both axles should improve the car's performance even further.  Interestingly, GM is making no comment about this greatly anticipated new vehicle.
