Ferrari's Vision of the Future of Driving

Ferrari has created a visionary look at the future of driving - the Vision GT 7.  Ferrari unveiled its Grand Turismo concept car in Monaco during the GT World Finals celebration of the 25th anniversary of Sony's Gran Turismo video game.  The Vision GT is both a physical prototype, designed for the ultimate in epic rides, and a digital hypercar for blazing on 4 wheels in Gran Turismo video games.  The spectacular styling, thunderous power and massive torque of this new vehicle by Ferrari has the global automotive world spellbound. Vision GT will be on display starting December 15, 2022 in the Ferrari Museum in Italy.

Style and Function

The Vision GT takes its inspiration from historic race cars of the past.  The hybrid vehicle has a sleek, aerodynamic, low-slung body. It contains a single seat for the driver with a wraparound windshield that envelops the driver's cockpit. The vehicle is wide to the extreme for the video game. The ground clearance is close to zero.  It's powered by a twin-turbo, hybrid V6 engine setup.  There are huge vents on the sides of the hypercar.  Also, the vehicle sports a very large rear wing, a massive splitter in the front and fins on the side sills.  In essence, this is a car that will get you noticed.

Tech Specs

The Vision GT is all about power and aerodynamics.  The mid-mounted twin-turbo, 3-liter, V6 engine produces 1,016 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque.  Additionally, another 322 hp come from 3 electric motors in front of each front wheel and 3 more electric motors at the rear axle.  The combined torque on the rear axle alone is 811 lb-ft.  With its 8-speed, F1 dual-clutch gear, Vision GT can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in less than two seconds.  Maximum speed is 217 mph. The vehicle has a carbon fiber chassis and elasto-kinematic suspension for very smooth handling.  Like an F1 race car, it has an electric boost and kinetic energy recycling system.  Ferrari has patented the car's key design detail, which is how the airflow goes from the front underbelly, around the cockpit and over the side pods.  It is a unique design that makes the body of the car appear to float over the flat carbon underbelly

Importance of This New Concept For Ferrari

The Vision GT is of great importance to Ferrari.  The company says the vehicle is their "futuristic design manifesto" for both road cars and racing cars.  For Ferrari, it redefines their "stylistic language".  The concept could eventually become a flagship vehicle for Ferrari.  Concerning the digital Vision GT, if you have a Playstation Gaming Console, you can start driving it virtually in Gran Turismo 7 around Christmas 2022.
