NEW CLIMATE CHANGE DEAL FROM COP28

  • The COP 28 Climate Summit in Dubai ends with 200 nations signing a climate deal to transition away from fossil fuels in their energy systems.  Here is what we know:
  • This agreement is being called the 1st time that nations have specifically agreed to limit and reduce fossil fuels
  • They want to accelerate action in this "critical decade" to achieve net zero by 2050 "in keeping with science"
  • United Arab Emirate (UAE) says it is delivering a big shift that has the potential to "redefine our economies", which for decades have been defined by oil
  • Some big promises:  
  1. UAE Consensus wants to triple renewables and double energy efficiency globally by 2030
  2. Accelerate the phase-down of unabated coal power
  3. Get more oil and gas companies to step-up and address methane and emissions
  • Pressing and promising goals from Dubai while burning of coal, oil and gas remain the largest contributor to Climate Change that are equal to more than 3/4th of global greenhouse gas emissions.
TESLA'S OPTIMUS ROBOT EVOLVES INTO G2

  • Elon Musk just unveiled his next generation of Tesla's Optimus robot.  Here are some key facts:
  • Optimus is the Tesla humanoid robot that is now faster, lighter and more dexterous
  • Its speed is increased 30%, it has dropped 22 pounds and can even dance with skill and grace
  • It's much more agile, refined and equipped with very dexterous hands
  • Said to be moving beyond factory floor and toward integration into daily lives
  • There is a great deal of interest, including from investors, in the development of this robot as Musk says its potential is bigger than Tesla.
