INNOVATIVE FUNDRAISING:  WINE ON THE RUN

  • Wine taster/connoisseur and marathoner Tom Gilbey ran the prestigious London Marathon sipping a different glass of wine at every mile.  Here's what we know:
  • It was all done for charity; he raised money for hospice care
  • The challenge was to blind taste a different wine at every mile and name the wine vintage, grape and producer
  • He identified 21 wines - an outstanding score out of the 25 wines he tasted along the 26-mile route
  • He raised nearly $18,000. for hospice
  • He avoided becoming too tipsy by taking small sips
  • Elite marathon runners do not recommend hydrating with wine during marathon runs
  • As for our Hospice Hero, he has not only benefitted humanity but also showed us another benefit of wine - an innovative way to raise money for a worthy cause.

  • VTOL - vertical takeoff and landing like a helicopter
  • Hybrid electric power
  • Capable of autonomous flying
  • Carries 3 passengers
  • Contains cutting edge technology including the latest in aerospace electric propulsion and autonomous flight
  • The flying car has been under development for more than 5 years and is now nearing fruition
  • This aviation innovation results from a partnership among Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, UK's Cranfield University and Cranfield Aerospace Solutions.

  China's SAIC Revolutionizes the Historic British MG Brand                                              Source:  MG Cyberster Electric MG Sport Car Concept Becomes a Reality The legendary sports car company MG was founded in the 1920's in Oxford, England. It enjoyed a long history of creating iconic MG, 2 seat sports cars. It is now China owned and China based, acquired a few years ago by SAIC Motors.  The new MG has a fabulous concept car the Cyberster.  It's an all electric sports car that was recently introduced at the Shanghai 2021 Motor Show.  MG just announced the vehicle is going from concept and into production.  MG calls it the "world's first purely electric e-sports cockpit".  The design of this electric vehicle is sleek, futuristic and highly styled with a wide grill that is a throwback to the original MGB as are the round headlights that open like eyes when the car is turned on.  It is truly an iconic, all electric sports car.
