  • The University of Texas Austin has opened one of the world's biggest and most powerful AI supercomputer hubs whose #1 priority is achieving medical breakthroughs.  Here are some key facts:
  • The new University of Texas "Center For Generative AI" will be one of the largest generative AI computing centers in the world
  • It's comprised of 600 Nvidia H100s GPUs or graphic processing units
  • The AI system enables rapid math computations, ideal to train AI models
  • It's targeting breakthroughs in the biosciences and healthcare
  • Key Focus: besides health care, also computer vision, natural language processing, materials science and other key disciplines
  • It will offer world-class AI research and AI infrastructure to a wide range of partners
  • Key purpose: create generative AI solutions for pressing world problems
  • Key definer:  the large and powerful size and scale of this AI hub for major innovation breakthroughs is in an academic environment - UT Austin.
