Germany's New Digital Intelligent Train

Image
Siemens & Deutsche Bahn Innovation - Digital Train Source:  Siemens & Deutsche Bahn No Special Tracks or Infrastructure Needed for New Automated Train German industrial giant Siemens and Deutsche Bahn have developed the world's 1st automated, driverless, digital train that requires no special tracks or new infrastructure.  The "intelligent" train is controlled by digital technology and is fully automated. Four new driverless trains will be deployed first in Hamburg as part of the city's $70 million urban rail system modernization program. They become fully operational in December 2021.  Bringing the Railroad into the Digital Future Siemens and Deutsche Bahn believe that their new driverless train brings the global railroad industry into the digital future.  The companies call the vehicle landmark innovation in "intelligent trains" and add that it is more energy efficient and punctual than traditional trains.  What is breakthrough and a world first

COVID Vaccine Patch - Painless, Effective

3D Printed Alternative to Needles                                                                 Source:  UNC-Chapel Hill New Tech That's a Breakthru for Vaccines Researchers at Stanford University and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill have developed a 3D printed plastic patch as an alternative to COVID-19 vaccinations by needles.  The patch contains an array of microneedles that directly deliver the vaccine into the skin.  The researchers say the microneedle patch is ten times more effective in producing an immune response than a needle and it is painless. Microneedle patches have been under development for decades.  But the breakthrough on this revolutionary new patch came from 3D printing the microneedles on a polymer patch just long enough to reach the skin and deliver the vaccine. Customization Through 3D Printing The key to the new patch is 3D printing which enables customization of the microneedles for various vaccine patches. The researchers anticipate making

The impact is huge.  Automakers and technology companies are being forced to wait 5 months and more for chip deliveries which is hampering their global businesses. Search For Developing New Chip Technologies What investors are placing bets on are chips that promise more power and efficiency.  The chips under development are better designed to the extent that fewer of them are

Now, there may be a new tech solution. Lilac Solutions, an Oakland, California startup, has a revolutionary new lithium ion extraction process that appears to be exponentially quicker, less expensive, less energy intensive and far more environmentally friendly than current lithium mining technologies.   Lithium - the "Irreplaceable Metal" for EVs Lithium is known as the "irreplaceable metal" for EVs because of its high energy density to power batteries with fewer cells at potentially less expense.  It is found in hard rock mountainous regions, whic

Toyota Mirai Hydrogen FCEV Enters Guinness Book                                             Source:  Toyota Mirai Zero Emissions Driving with 5 Minute Refueling Toyota and its hydrogen fuel cell EV (FCEV) Mirai have set the world record for the longest range for a hydrogen fuel cell powered EV on a single tank of hydrogen.  The zero emissions sedan drove 1360 km or  845 miles.  The world record was set in southern California by what is called a "hyperdriver" over two days. And Toyota says the Mirai was driven mostly in rush hour traffic.   2G Mirai Toyota says the Mirai is one of a growing number of zero emissions models in its portfolio of cars.  The record setting Mirai is the second generation of the Mirai that was first introduced and went to market in 2016.  It is currently available for sale in select international markets. 5 Minute Refuels Mirai's hydrogen fuel cell stack has a peak power of 172 hp and 300 Nm of maximum torque.  It has an average driving range of
