Let the Robot Do Snow Blowing

 World's First Autonomous Snowblower

Let the Robot Do the Shoveling

A new, intelligent robot, developed by China's Hanyang Technology Company's robotics group Hanyang Robotics, could make snow shoveling obsolete.  Snowbot is an intelligent, autonomous, robotic snowblower that can clear 1500 square feet of snow on a single charge.  Snowbot can scoop up and blow away up to a foot of snow.  It is totally autonomous and powered by electric motors.  It can be controlled with an app on your phone or by remote control.  And, unlike current snowblowers powered by diesel, Snowbot is totally emissions free.  The company says it is the world's first autonomous snowblower.  It can clean 1.3 feet of snow per second.

Very Advanced Technology

Snowbot actually creates a map of the area to be cleared of snow.  It uses 4, ultra-wide band positioning terminals.  Three of the positioning terminals stake-out the area to be cleared of snow and serve as transmitters to the robot.  The fourth is a receiver positioned on the top of the robot.  Together they create a map of the job and guide the robot with smart navigation.  They also input directions that the owner is providing through the companion mobile app. The app lets the owner monitor, control and change routes that the robot is taking.

Tech Specs

The robot is powerful enough to clear up to 12 inches of snow.  The company says that Snowbot is capable of clearing the driveways of most US households.  It has a 360-degree snow thrower that can thrust snow to designated piles up to 12 feet away.   Depending upon the snow depth, Snowbot automatically sets its speed up to 1.4Km/hour.  Its 1123.2 Wh lithium-ion battery powers it for 1&1/2 hours.  It has four, brushless electric motors.  There is an emergency stop button and audio alarms should a problem develop.  And the smart robot uses lidar for automatic obstacle detection.  Snowbot is now in beta testing and is scheduled to launch in the winter of 2022 at a price of $3,599.  During the upcoming winter months, you can apply to beta test Snowbot.
