Mercedes created the EV to mark the release of director James Cameron's 2nd Avatar movie - Avatar: The Way of Water.  The Mercedes ATVR has a futuristic propulsion system and very innovative, edgy styling.  The concept car is a blockbuster of its own, even though it doesn't appear in the movie.  Unique Design Language The vehicle is fast-forward futuristic with totally glass doors that open like bird wings and huge wheels that resemble a flower in bloom.  These features tie into the Avatar theme of conserving the beauty of nature.  And of great note, Vision AVTR has 4-wheel steering that enables it to drive sideways, if a maneuver like that might be useful for you at some

  New Vision AVTR Concept                                                                    Source:  Mercedes Vision AVTR Brain Computer Interface at Work Mercedes Benz, at the IAA Mobility 2021 show in Munich, unveiled a concept car that redefines the relationship between car and driver.  With its Vision AVTR, Mercedes has innovated an electric concept car controlled by the driver's thoughts.  The car uses a brain-computer interface to record a driver's brain waves by wearable electrodes attached to the head.  Mercedes has partnered with Disney on this concept car, which was inspired by Disney's Avatar.  The Vision AVTR is all electric, zero emissions with a 350 kW electric engine. How Does It Work? Electric, Autonomous Driving Future Unique Concept Car Based on Avatar Movie When Mercedes Benz looks at the future of driving, it envisions all-electric, autonomous vehicles.  The Vision AVTR concept car captures their imaginative, creative vision.  The design of  this sustainable, electric, autonomous concept car was influenced by the blockbuster, sci-fi movie Avatar that was released in 2009. Driving with No Steering Wheel The technology and technology concepts in the car are spectacular.  There's a 110 kilowatt hour electric motor that produces 469 horsepower and  has a range of 435 miles.  The car self-drives and has no steering wheel.  Mercedes Benz designers say the car would establish "a biometric connection with the driver".
