South Korea automaker Hyundai believes it could have an air taxi service operational within four years and possibly before 2025.  GM believes its air taxi service will be up and running by 2030 because of technical and regulatory issues that the entire industry needs to address.  There are a growing number of developers in the field ranging from startups to global airplane makers like Airbus.  The flying cars under development are largely eVTOLs or electric, vertical takeoff and landing vehicles.  They take off and land like a helicopter and fly like a plane.  They are powered by electric batteries with zero emissions. Joby Air Taxis Going Public, Ready to Fly

  Joby Aviation Going Public on NYSE        Source:  Joby Aviation Big Tech Investors Behind the e-VTOL Company Electric aviation company Joby Aviation is going public on the NYSE.  It is using a reverse merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) to do so.   The northern California company will come out of the box with a valuation of $6.6 billion.  Joby is a very hot "future of mobility" company.  It recently acquired Uber's flying taxi division.  Joby is backed by Toyota, Intel and Jet Blue.  And, the SPAC company it is merging with - Reinvent Technology - is run by Linked-In cofounder Reid Hoffman and Zynga founder Marc Pincus.  As part of the SPAC deal, Joby will get $1.6 billion cash. Joby is readying its flying taxis for scaled-up takeoffs in partnership with Toyota. It now has $375 million in investor funding.  It is establishing a Dusseldorf, Germany Vertiport planned for its eVTOLs - electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles.  And now, it announced its first US Vertiport at Lake Nona, a smart city being built near Orlando International Airport.  5 year old Lilium is racing ahead in the eVTOL field to revolutionize short haul transit. Lilium is an electric, green, air taxi service, gearing up to take-off. Green Revolutionary Tech Lilium is a fixed wing air craft that seats five and requires an experienced pilot.  It's a green flying
