  GMC Cycles With an E-Bike                                                  Source:  GMC  The New Electric Hummer Bike GMC is offering a new electric vehicle.  This one has only two wheels.  It's an all-electric bike. And it takes its rugged motif from the new, electric Hummer supertruck.  The HummerBike is a very powerful e-bike. With two hub motors it can hit speeds of 28 mph. New Partnership GMC partnered with e-bike maker Recon to create the HummerBike.  Just like the Hummer supertruck, it has all-wheel drive.  There are many other crossover elements.  The HummerBike's tires are huge, all-terrain and puncture resistant.  It has 2-tone coloring.  The e-bike is extremely rugged, primed for off-roading and designed to be mounted on the Hummer supertruck's tailgate. It goes into a lockdown mode to prevent it from being stolen. The weight makes them difficult to carry up stairs or throw into the back of an SUV.  Ares' Bici Le Super Leggera, through engineering marvels, is the world's reigning lightweight of electric bikes . Britain and France Getting on Board Source:  Google Biking to Work, Avoiding Pubic Transit There is a significant trend from the global pandemic: individual personal mobility is far preferable to public transportation. As a result, bikes are getting a big boost in Europe as governments search for means to get people safely to work without crowded buses, trains and subways.  As the lock-downs ease and people start returning to their places of work, many will be doing a cycling commute. Britain and France Britain has just rolled out a $308 million emergency active travel fund to get commuters to cycle to work.  France is investing $22 million to develop and subsidize cycle commuting.  Both countries are also installing temporary bike lanes to facilitate the cyclists. Amsterdam Many cities in northern Europe, like Amsterdam, have a long history of travel by bikes and they have the infrastructure in place to support it.  In the Netherlands, 27% of commuting is done by bike. 

World's 1st Airless Tires

Debuting at 2020 Tokyo Olympics: Airless Tires Source:  Bridgestone World First from Bridgestone It's been a long time coming but Bridgestone has created airless tires.  They're going to debut them on a fleet of bikes at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.  The airless tires are a world first and took years to develop.  Among the hurdles that Bridgestone had to overcome for the tires:  distributing the vehicle weight on the tires evenly, consistently transmitting loads and finding a means to prevent debris from trapping inside the tires. Recycled Materials The tires are made of recycled, high strength thermoplastic resin spokes. The non-pneumatic, airless tires won't puncture, won't go flat and don't need refills.  You also don't need spare tires.  Bridgestone also says it reduces CO2 emissions from vehicles.
