Mercedes to Offer Solar Roofs on EVs

  Solar Roof Options by 2024                                               Source:  Mercedes German Luxury Automaker Taps the Sun Mercedes Benz unveiled a stunning electric concept, the Vision EQXX, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week.  The sleek, futuristically designed sedan has a 117 solar cell panel on the roof to generate an additional 15.5 miles of driving range.  While the Vision EQXX doesn't have a date to go into production yet, the solar roof does.  Mercedes has decided to offer the solar roof as an option on all of its electric vehicles starting in 2024. Unique Solar Technology Mercedes worked with the renowned German research institute Fraunhofer to co-develop the new solar technology.  Power generated by the 117 solar cells is stored in a separate lithium-iron-phosphate battery.  It provides power for the car's lights, infotainment and other systems.  The solar system supplements the main battery pack and increases the driving range.  The

  Electric Concept with 620 Mile Range                                      Source:  Mercedes Vision EQXX MB On the Electric Road With Rolling R&D Lab Mercedes unveiled its long-anticipated Vision EQXX electric concept car at CES 2022 in Las Vegas.  The car breaks the mold for unique styling, design and technology.  It can travel 620 miles on a single charge.  Mercedes says that is the equivalent of travelling from New York City to Cincinnati nonstop.  The German luxury car manufacturer says the Vision EQXX is the most efficient car that it has ever built.  It needs a full recharge just twice a month. Design and Style The Vision EQXX is all about luxury, efficiency and zero emissions.  The body is distinctively different from other Mercedes models with a sleek, curvy and futuristic look.  Segments of the car's exterior are 3-D printed. The new Electric Vehicle (EV) is a coupe-like sedan that gets 621 miles on a charge.  The vehicle is so efficient that at highway speeds it consumes just one kWh of energy every 62 miles that it is driven.  The range on the EQXX is about 100 miles longer than that of the previous record holder.  The Lucid Air Dream EV gets 520 miles on a charge.   New Vision AVTR Concept                                                                    Source:  Mercedes Vision AVTR Brain Computer Interface at Work Mercedes Benz, at the IAA Mobility 2021 show in Munich, unveiled a concept car that redefines the relationship between car and driver.  With its Vision AVTR, Mercedes has innovated an electric concept car controlled by the driver's thoughts.  The car uses a brain-computer interface to record a driver's brain waves by wearable electrodes attached to the head.  Mercedes has partnered with Disney on this concept car, which was inspired by Disney's Avatar.  The Vision AVTR is all electric, zero emissions with a 350 kW electric engine. How Does It Work?   7 Seat Electric SUV                                             Source:  Mercedes Benz Mercedes' Answer to the Tesla Model Y SUV  Mercedes Benz is launching its much anticipated all electric SUV, the EQB.  It is the Germany based company's answer to the Tesla Model Y, a compact SUV that is closing in on the most popular EV model spot in the world.  Sales are so strong for the Model Y in the US and China that Tesla is adding production capacity to build more at its new factories in Austin, Texas and Berlin, Germany.
