EV Battery with a 625 Mile Range

Sweden based Volvo has very ambitious electrification plans.  It intends to have an all-electric vehicle lineup by 2030.  It has developed a new EV battery with a staggering range of 625 miles on a single charge.  And it has developed the "Concept Recharge" car, which is a model for what Volvo EVs will look like in the future.  Volvo plans to sell 600,000 EVs by 2025.  Volvo is owned by China based Geely.

Concept Recharge

The Concept Recharge vehicle is an electric SUV designed for maximum comfort and space.  It has a unique, vertical infotainment tablet, an open space, comfortable interior design and reverse hinge rear doors.  A version of the concept will be on the road by 2024.

625 Mile Range

Volvo is far ahead of other global EV makers on battery range.  The only vehicle that even comes close to the 625 mile range that Volvo claims for its new battery is a Tesla EV truck that's in the pipeline.  Namely, the Tesla Cybertruck that promises to deliver 500 miles in range.  A range of 625 miles is more than enough to go back and forth between LA and Las Vegas and is close to making the 685 mile journey between London and Berlin.

How Did Volvo Create an EV Battery with Such Long Range?

Volvo says it created the new battery by using a new, high energy density battery design and integrating the battery as one of the EV's core structural elements.  The battery will be available in 2025 and Volvo says it will provide a very fast charge turnaround time. Volvo plans to build its own European battery manufacturing plant to support its electrification plans before 2026. To take a look at the latest in "New Travel Concepts" go to ASIN ‏ : ‎ B098PH12XB
