These Scooters Are Serious Travel Vehicles

Personal, 2-wheel mobility company Segway has created a new, electric scooter that gives electric-bikes a big run for their money.  The new scooter comes in two models - the GT 1 and GT 2.  The GT 2 can hit a breakthrough speed of 43.5 mph. E-bikes average 20 to 25 mph. The Segway scooters are definitely not for kids.  They are designed for daring adults who are into new forms of electric mobility.

Tech Specs

To help maintain the scooter's balance when hitting speeds of 40 mph plus, the scooter has an extra wide footboard, two 11-inch, "Anti Puncture", tubeless, pneumatic tires and a double wishbone suspension structure.  The vehicles are constructed of aircraft grade aluminum.  GT1 has a 1400-watt, electric rear motor and can hit a top speed of 37.3 mph.  It can accelerate from 0 to 30 mph in 7.5 seconds.  GT2 has a 1500-watt electric motor on each wheel. It can hit speeds up to 43.5 mph and accelerate from 0 to 30 mph in a breathtaking 3.9 seconds.  GT2's range on a charge is 55.9 miles.  GT1's range on a charge is 43.5 miles.

Price and Deliveries

These e-scooters with their leading speed and range are quite pricey.  The GT1 costs $2,999.  The GT2 costs $3,999.  Deliveries start in August 2022.  The scooters have 4 speed modes, front and rear hydraulic brakes, a digital display and LED lights to keep the rider visible. Segway was founded in New Hampshire by entrepreneur Dean Kamen.  It is still headquartered there but is now owned by China's Ninebot, a private company that specializes in short-distance transportation solutions.  For more stories like this, go to New Breakthrough Cars, Planes, Bikes, Boats
