Top Speeds of 217 MPH

In the UK, the world's most powerful production car, Lotus Elija, is now in production.  The electric hypercar can only be described as iconic and superlative.  The 4-electric motor powertrain delivers a whopping 2,011 hp and 1,256 lb-ft of torque.  This vehicle can hit a top speed of 217 mph.  No other car - in production - compares to it for power and it's quite a looker too.

More Tech Details

Elija accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in less than 3 seconds and can go from 0 to 186 mph in less than 9 seconds.  The vehicle has a carbon fiber body, magnesium wheels and a racecar inspired suspension system with 3, spool-valve dampers per axle to help control the EV at high speeds.  It weighs 4,160 pounds largely from the hefty 93 kWh battery that provides 250 miles range on a charge.  Charging the battery takes only 18 minutes to hit 80%.

Driver Emerson Fittipaldi

To mark the start of production and the 50th anniversary of driver Emerson Fittipaldi's 5 victories in a Lotus in Formula 1 races, Lotus also unveiled a special edition Evija Fittipaldi.  At the unveiling at Lotus headquarters in Hethel, UK, Fittipaldi was there to debut the vehicle and drive it.  The first Evija's will be delivered in 2023. In total there will be 130 Evija's and 8 Evija Fittipaldi's.  For more news stories like this, Breakthrough Concept Cars 2020's
