AI SELFIE OF THE LAST SUPPER

  • British film editor Duncan Thomsen has created with AI a stunning gallery of historical people presented as "selfies", including Jesus and his Apostles at The Last Supper
  • There are also portraits of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo and Cleopatra in her court, appearing as if the famous leaders from the past had taken the selfie themselves
  • Thomsen spent months working on a formula of prompts, language and pictorial elements to feed to his artificial intelligence system - Midjourney - to create the images
  • This is a stunning example of the burgeoning uses of AI: creating websites from word prompts, passing law school & bar exams and now resurrecting historical figures through AI selfies.

  • AirCar 4x4 flying car looks like something out of Star Wars but experts are calling it the future of flying
  • Designed by Italy's Lazzarini Design Studio, it has an estimated top speed of 460 mph
  • The company expects to launch AirCar commercially next year - 2024
  • Powered by 4, Rolls Royce jet engines that can rotate in different directions depending upon which way you want to go
  • Said to be very stable with maximum maneuverability
  • Ultra-light with carbon fiber body
  • Powered by jet fuel, takes off & lands vertically, range of 3200 kilometers (1988 miles)
  • Carries a pilot & 3 passengers.

META ROBOT LEARNS FROM HUMANS

  • Facebook's parent company, Metaverse, has developed a new robot with a new approach to learning new functions - specifically everyday human tasks
  • The robots are called Ego4D & they are learning from humans
  • Meta is "feeding" the robots with videos of people doing everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning & sports to trigger the development of an artificial visual cortex, which in humans is the part of the brain that enables us to convert vision into movement
  • The robots are learning 17 sensorimotor tasks, including locomotion, simulation, navigation & dexterous & mobile manipulation
  • Meta has also been very successful with this learning technique using Boston Dynamics Spot dogs
  • Spot was asked to rearrange of variety of objects and succeeded 59 out of 60 times
  • Meta's Ego4D appears to be highly promising robotic technology that could be breakthrough innovation.
