MarsCat is Fully Autonomous & Just Like a Cat

The world's first bionic, AI enabled cat - MarsCat - has been developed by Shenzhen, China based Elephant Robotics.  The MarsCat has been specifically designed to bring joy, companionship and fun interaction particularly for kids and seniors.  MarsCat's functionality includes walking, sitting, stretching and meowing.  It is fully autonomous, fully responsive and has cat-like emotional responses.  The company says that no instructions are needed to control its movements. Very advanced AI (artificial intelligence) enables the little robot to understand and respond to human commands and interactions.  MarsCat is now under mass production for global sales.

MarsCat's Level of Understanding

Elephant Robotics says the little robot hears your voice, can feel your touch, sees your face and can play with toys.  It changes its personality in tune with the way it is being petted and handled. MarsCat has a powerful quad-core Raspberry PI that allows it to be easily programmed and opens up a world of new functionality for MarsCat.  The company says that MarsCat is ideal for homes, businesses, research and for education.  It can be purchased for $1,299.  That is expensive.  But, by comparison, Sony's very popular Aido dog robot costs $2,899.

Tech Specs

The advanced technologies empowering MarsCat are awesome.  There are 16 built-in servo motors inside its body that control speed, torque, motion angles and its overall autonomous agility.  It has 6 touch sensors on the head and body to respond to petting and how it is being handled.  Its OLED life-like eyes display how it is feeling.  A TOF laser distance sensor and microphone help it to navigate and respond to commands.

MarsCat's "Brain"

What sets MarsCat apart from other home robots is its "brain".  There is a highly advanced 16-DOF micro-controller and a quadruped, Kinimatics algorithm powered by the quad-core Raspberry P1. More sensors recognize images, voices and touch that enable motion, fast recognition and fast feature reactions on the little robot.  MarsCat can learn independently and develop its own unique personality as it interacts with its owners.  MarsCat is a highly intelligent, AI enabled robot that appears to have all the makings of a great household pet. By the way, Elephant Robotics has created a big elephant robot too!
