What to Expect of a Possibly Exceptional Concept Car

Stellantis-owned, legendary French automaker Peugeot is famous for facile, functional vehicles and magnificent concept cars like Instinct, Exalt and Legend in the past few years.  Now, Peugeot is ready to present its next new concept car, Inception, that will debut at the CES 2023 in January.  Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson says it will showcase the "next-generation of e-native cars".  That means it will demonstrate the future of cars built from their inception as an electric vehicle.  Automotive experts expect the EV to be a stunner.

Some Noteworthy Points

The fact that the debut of Inception will take place at the world's top technology and electronics show portends that the new vehicle will be loaded with cutting edge technologies.  It also suggests that Peugeot may be thinking about returning to the US, as CES is a mainstay US-based tech show.  Peugeot exited the US market back in 1991.  Perhaps, it could make a re-entry with an electric vehicle that has breakthrough technologies sometime in the near future.

What to Expect From the New Concept

Expect the unexpected.  Peugeot says their team has totally redesigned and repurposed Inception's interior with a next-generation i-Cockpit.  In essence, the company is "repurposing driving gestures" with this vehicle. I can't wait to see what that will involve. In terms of exterior styling, it is expected to provide fresh perspectives on the future of design and be a stunning model of new automotive architecture.  Inception promises to contain next generation features and advanced technologies never seen before in a car. Peugeot has released only teaser images of the EV so far.

Electric Powertrain

As far as the electric powertrain goes, Peugeot says it is taking advantage of "BEV-by-design" next-generation electric platforms.  Stellantis platforms that could be utilized include:  STLA Small, STLA Medium and STLA Large.  The first Stellantis vehicles with the architecture are expected to roll out in 2024.
