  • New research by scientists at the University of Pennsylvania has spotted 3 foods, rich in Omega-3, that help prevent you from getting angry and blowing up.  Omega-3 found in fatty fish, like salmon, walnuts and flaxseed seems to prevent aggressive and violent outbursts in people who eat them.  Here are some key facts:
  • Penn scientists found a 30% reduction in aggressive, angry behavior in people who took omega-3 for at least 2 weeks
  • The researchers analyzed nearly 30 scientific studies of the nutrient
  • The team believes that omega-3 improve brain mechanisms that aren't working adequately in people who exhibit aggressive, angry and even violent behavior
  • Omega-3 has an anti-inflammatory effect on the brain and enhances the production of dopamine and serotonin
  • The Penn team recommends people take advantage of these findings now
  • They say it works across all ages, genders and psychological states
  • To increase your intake of omega-3, take a supplement or eat food rich in it like fatty fish, walnuts and flaxseed
  • The Penn team is continuing their research into long-term effects, but their new study demonstrates omega-3 will make you more mellow.  Amazing what a simple dietary adjustment can do!

  • MIT's Lincoln Labs, Boston aviation start-up Merlin, the FAA and the US Air Force are collaborating on new technologies to enable self-flying planes.  Here are some key facts:
  • They're developing next-G, safety critical technology for autonomous aircraft
  • The new autonomous system combines Lincoln Labs' ACAS Xu next-G, onboard, airborne collision avoidance system with the Merlin Pilot
  • Merlin Pilot can provide autonomous take-off, landing, flight course and steering; it has a wide range of sensors to monitor plane's environment to maintain safety; and is scalable to various plane sizes
  • Purpose of the collaboration:  Safer airspace by creating advanced autonomous flying capabilities for an autonomous flying future that exceeds safety standards of the National Airspace System
  • FAA is supporting and funding the effort
  • USAF is directly working with Merlin on pilots' autonomous needs and priorities
  • Currently the parties are testing the new technologies.
