NEW SCIENCE: DOGS NO LONGER CAN EXPRESS THEIR EMOTIONS

  • A team from the UK's Durham University says selective breeding has made it difficult for dogs to convey feelings through facial expressions.  Here's what we know:
  • Durham University used a "Dog Facial Action Coding System" to analyze both captive wolves and domestic dogs
  • They analyzed both spontaneous social interactions and reaction to external stimuli (like toys)
  • Their results:
  1. They identified 9 emotional states, including anger, joy, curiosity and surprise
  2. Wolves' facial expressions were more in tune with their emotional feelings than domestic dogs
  3. Selective breeding facial structures (i.e. shorter muzzles, floppy ears, etc.) limit a dog's ability to show the same range of emotions as their wolf ancestors
  • Lesson learned:  Next time my Win does something a little pushy, like wearing her party hats and ribbons for treats, I'll assume she would like to change her normal sweet look with one of contrition - but just can't!  She loves to party and shows her joy by sitting and holding for her favorite treats. Win is my little Smooth Fox winner!!

  • Offers blistering acceleration:  0 to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds
  • Contains Bugatti's W16 powertrain
  • Designed to be the ultimate hypercar:  most powerful, fastest, most exclusive and most luxurious
  • It's yours for a mere $4 million.

  China's SAIC Revolutionizes the Historic British MG Brand                                              Source:  MG Cyberster Electric MG Sport Car Concept Becomes a Reality The legendary sports car company MG was founded in the 1920's in Oxford, England. It enjoyed a long history of creating iconic MG, 2 seat sports cars.
