  • Human augmentation is a rapidly advancing innovative new science focused on developing additions to the human body like an extra thumb, hand, arm or wings
  • At the UK's University of Cambridge, scientific researchers have already developed a third thumb for the human hand that is controlled by foot movements
  • The scientists say the 3rd thumb, which has been successfully used by more than 20 people, is just the beginning step to larger, more dramatic new additions, like wings to fly, in upcoming decades
  • The 3rd thumb is 3-D printed & is worn on the side of the hand across from the real thumb
  • The 2 thumbs on the same hand can unscrew a jar, thread a needle & more
  • The 3D printed thumb is controlled by using pressure sensors under the foot wirelessly connected to the thumb
  • Cognitive neuroscience experts at Cambridge say that the human brain has extraordinary capacity to work with additions to the body including wings to fly.
