Billionaires Race to Space Source:  Blue Origin  -  Jeff Bezos & his space vehicle Blue Origin Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is in a race to win the highly competitive drive to commercialize space.  His company Blue Origin has a mission:  to provide low cost travel to space.  He's in a battle for space with two other billionaires - Elon Musk of SpaceX and Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Galactic. Take-Off 2019 Bezos finances Blue Origin with $1 billion in Amazon stock yearly.  His system consists of a pressurized crew capsule on top of a reusable  "New Shepherd" rocket.  The system has been successfully tested several times. Experts expect the first crewed flight in the first half of 2019. Blue Origin has yet to leave the Earth's atmosphere.  SpaceX Falcon Heavy has soared into space.  Virgin Galactic's Unity spaceship recently crossed into the outer edges of space. German Engineering Precision Source:  Franka Emika Robotics The Panda Germany based robotics firm Franka Emika has built a breakthrough robotic arm specifically geared for small business. It's called The Panda, is easy to program and is priced at $11,000.  It's been cited by Time as one of the top inventions of 2018. Lightweight Robotic System The Panda can move in 7 axes. The company says it was designed to mimic human agility and a sense of touch.  It can be programmed to perform specific tasks and is interconnected and adaptive. Panda can build circuit boards, conduct scientific experiments and pre-test equipment. Two Pandas can work together and build a third Panda. Helmet Mounted Brake Light that's Sensor Activated Important New Safety Tech for Motorcyclists It's called BrakeFree and it's been innovated by a startup in San Jose, CA.  The device is a helmet mounted, brake light system that's activated by sensor arrays.  It detects the engine breaking, break activation, the motorcycle's deceleration and flashes a big LED illumination on the back of the helmet.  If you're a biker, it's a safety device worthy of taking a look at. Antenna is Five Times the Size of NYC Source:  Stock Photo of Chinese Submarine Big Health Concerns It's a massive experimental radio antenna that's capable of communicating with submarines in very deep water.  It's location isn't exactly clear. But the Wireless Electromagnetic Method Project was built on a site five times the size of NYC.  It's now ready to operate and start emitting low frequency radio waves.  There are big concerns about the impact on human health.
