BMW & Alpina's Unique Partnership

BMW and Alpina have just unveiled a powerful and luxurious new sedan, the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe.  The B8 Gran Coupe is Alpina's version of the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe.  Germany-based Alpina is a separate company but it is BMW's luxury and performance automobile craftsman.  Alpina develops high performance versions of BMWs.  The company builds engines and parts and customizes luxury interiors by hand.  BMW does the final assembly of the souped-up BMW's.  So, the two companies just unveiled the powerful, luxurious and very expensive new B8 Gran Coupe to some great automotive reviews.

Power Performance and Elegant Luxury

The Alpina B8 is the most expensive entry in the new BMW 8-Series lineup.  Experts say it combines many of the 8-Series lineup's best qualities into a classic, luxury and powerful performance car.  Almost everything about the car is elegant.  Much of the interior, including the steering wheel, instrument panel and front sports seats are covered in Merino leather that was handcrafted in Alpina's inhouse studio workshop.  Behind the steering wheel, there is a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster.  The center console contains BMW's 10.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system that provides access to navigation and the driver assistance system.  The exterior adds additional elegance to the BMW design including Alpina's classic 20 spoke, 21 inch wheels.  And it comes in exclusive paint colors.  

Powerful Engine

The 4.4 liter, twin turbo V8 engine combines with an 8-speed automatic transmission and gets you on your way in a hurry.  It generates 612 horsepower and 590 pounds of torque.  It can reach top speeds of  201 mph and go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds.  It is the second most powerful 8-Series car in the BMW lineup, second only to the M8 with 617 horsepower.  The vehicle will arrive for sale in the US by summer 2021.  It is the most expensive 8-Series with prices starting at $140,895.
